Keep it Real Wednesday
November 30, 2022
1 year later
On December 6th, we will be CELEBRATING Wade’s ONE-YEAR stem cell transplant birthday. As you can see from the pictures, he has come a LONG way in a year. We are so very grateful for remission and are thankful for each day he remains in remission. (Side note, Wade is VERY HAPPY for that full head of hair he gained after the transplant. He has not had that much hair in decades!)
As I look back over the last 12 months, I am also so very grateful to YOU.
Our family. Our friends. Our Blessing Bike community.
Amanda and Nick (our adult kids) dropped everything to move back home for a while to take care of Rosemary so I could concentrate on being Wade’s caregiver.
They spent quality time with Rosemary, which in retrospect was such a gift since she passed away just 6 weeks later.
They also took care of the details in our home to prepare for the transplant like deep and sterile cleaning, checking the expirations on all the food in the fridge (don’t judge me), and even waiting for me with a warm plate of food after a long day at the hospital with Wade.
As I reflect now, the time was so very precious.
People brought meals. Neighbors put up our Christmas lights. People donated blood at the blood banks. People helped in ways we didn’t even know we needed help. People prayed for us, and we felt all the love from afar. Plus, this was all during COVID, such a tough time for EVERYONE!
One year later we can CELEBRATE that Wade is having his first stem cell birthday and Rosemary had a peaceful departure to heaven in her bed, EXACTLY the way she wanted.
Both of those were answers to prayers and we are grateful.
I know Thanksgiving was last week, but I don’t think there is a timeframe that is inappropriate for gratitude.
So, THANK YOU to all of you who helped us this past year.
It mattered to us more than we could ever express.
