Keep it Real Wednesday
A sweet surprise
A few nights ago, Rosemary developed a slight cough. Due to my positive covid results, we were a bit worried so decided to get her tested.
Thank God she was negative.
I am truly grateful for her negative result but what I want to share with you today is the experience at the testing site.
Wade and Rosemary drove to the testing center for their car side appointment. It was cold and snowing outside, and the facility was staffed with people in their full PPE, to include the Idaho National guard helping the medical staff. Once Rosemary was registered at the car side, Wade was instructed to park in a designated spot and wait for Rosemary’s swab test in the car.
No sooner did Wade park his car when a physician came running outside with a display of large candy bars. He said to Rosemary “I heard we had a 94-year-old in the parking lot. If you are old enough to make it to 94 this Christmas, I have a candy bar for you”.
Then, with the biggest grin under all his PPE, he carefully unwrapped a chocolate bar selection for Rosemary to view in a blanket of paper towels and to choose her favorite. As quickly as he came, he scurried away between the snowflakes back into the clinic.
I wonder what the conversations were like behind closed doors? I wonder what prompted this Doctor to run outside in the snow, on a busy Sunday night, with a grin as large as a full moon, to give a super-size candy bar to a 94-year-old lady?
We may never know the intent but this very kind person warmed Rosemary’s heart and ours.
