It’s the WHY
For those of us who may struggle with getting weary sometimes, I have a message for you today.
Two years ago, I chose to retire to care for Rosemary fulltime. The Blessing Bike was born and evolved into a nonprofit and the bulk of free time (and that of our Board) has been devoted to blessing bike activities to include building the bikes, logistics, ordering, communication, administration and so much more.
It has been our honor to bring smiles to others. The stories you all have shared are tremendously heartfelt. You are heroes. All of you.
In reality sometimes, we all get weary.
Then, THIS happened and reaffirms the reasons WHY we do what we do. I received an email that touched my soul.
One note like THIS; one more life affected. Every moment is worth it.
YOU are a part of this too by supporting us, encouraging us and sharing our mission.
I received an email from a person going through cancer treatments. She was able to borrow a blessing bike from a friend who rode with her along the river in Boise. She felt the wind in her face, she spent time with her family and she said she let go of all the anxiety and stress associated with her treatment.
She said she slept better that night than she had in weeks, and mentioned she didn’t need extra medication to relax her for her next treatment.
The Blessing Bike not only allowed her family to spend quality time with her but gave her the strength and perseverance to tackle her cancer treatments.
Her email moved me to tears. Hearing about the impact the bike had upon this one person makes it all worthwhile.
And yes…we hope to find a way to help this beautiful lady with a Blessing Bike soon. We are behind you sister, let’s help you kick cancer’s butt.
This is what it is all about.
