Keep it Real Wednesday
Pacing the Cage
September 18, 2019
The last week has been quite the roller coaster in our home. At one point, Rosemary remained in bed and was not eating or drinking for a few days. She was ready for her next journey and was saying her goodbyes.
Then the following morning she awoke, said she was hungry, and gobbled down every morsel of breakfast and asked for a ride on her Blessing Bike.
On the ride, Rosemary shared her disappointment in not getting to heaven and wondered why God did not want her yet? I reflected on an old song that Jimmy Buffet recorded years ago (written by Bruce Cockburn) called “Pacing the Cage” and I would encourage you to listen to the lyrics. It speaks to walking that fine line between heaven and earth and the raw emotions felt during that time. It is worth a listen.
We never know how many people are before us in line to leave this earth and go to heaven. We cannot move to the front of the line, move the back of the line, step out of line or even avoid the line. Sometimes we just feel like we are pacing the cage in line.
So, what is the point of this blog today?
While we wait in line, make all of your moments count. LIVE your life fully, MAKE A DIFFERENCE in each other’s lives, make your voice heard, make your GIFTS known, LAUGH, make up with each other, share a SMILE, make moments count, tell your people they are LOVED, have NO REGRETS, and most importantly – TRUST that God has the perfect plan for you.
Heck… find a way to ride a bike at 93 years old like Rosemary did.
Each day is a GIFT.
